The whole crowd was very polite, good natured and co-operative with the police and organizers.

Why was it so important; Just being there?

The pressure for the release of Alan Johnston was massive and this seemed so small by comparison. But this is just the start of a larger campaign, and we are calling on the God of Israel!

Two items from E-mail newsletter of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.....

Mass demonstrations worldwide seek IDF soldiers' release
Tens of thousands are expected to attend rallies worldwide today calling for the release of the three abducted Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser, Eldad Regev, and Gilad Shalit. Organized by major international Jewish and Zionist organizations, the rallies aim to focus world attention on the plight of the kidnapped soldiers, who are being held in secret locations and in unknown conditions in Lebanon and Gaza. Rallies will be held today in front of the United Nations building in New York, the Syrian embassies in Washington, London and Ottawa, and the Israeli Consulate in Toronto. On Tuesday, a rally in Buenos Aires is expected to draw several thousand. There will also be demonstrations in Manchester and Montevideo, Uruguay, and a rally will be held in Geneva next week.

UN chief involved in efforts to free kidnapped soldiers
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is involved in efforts to secure the release of the three abducted IDF soldiers, Ban confirmed late last night. He told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York that for understandable reasons, he would not elaborate on what efforts had been made in order not to damage the soldiers' chances of release.

From Israel Insider

Olmert approved the final list of prisoners slated for release on Friday, as part of a package goodwill gestures to bolster Abbas and his Fatah party. "It will raise the price that Hamas will demand for Gilad Shalit, and we need to hold onto prisoners for that goal," Mofaz said, referring to the IDF soldier abducted by Hamas militants in June of last year. Mofaz is among many who oppose Olmert's prisoner release deal.

But let us not forget that the release of these hostage soldiers was one of the conditions of the UN brokered cease fire in the 2007 Hizballah war!

Also, please also remember Ron Arad, Zachary Baumel, Yehuda Katz, Zvi Feldman and Guy Hever who have been held much longer.

Please lend your support whenever possible, in prayer and by being there.
